Join the CALM Center via Zoom this fall to integrate regular mindfulness practice into your routine! These sessions are free for staff and faculty and will focus on evidence-based mindfulness practices that are simple and effective for addressing stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout. Each session includes 15 minutes of education and 15 minutes of practice. Register with your identikey email address and choose your sessions. Session 1: Mindful Awareness for Focus and Attention: What does it mean to be mindful? Learn to train the mind through focus and improve your attention without judgment. Session 2: Mindfulness of Breathing: The mind wanders naturally. Learn to use the breath as an anchor for the wandering mind. Session 3: Understanding the Brain and Stress Response: Learn the science behind our stress response and how to calm and reset when feeling stressed and activated. Session 4: Noticing our Thoughts and Emotions: When we learn mindful practices to notice our passing, fleeting thoughts and emotions, we can better meet the moment as it is, without judgment, resulting in less stress and a greater sense of peace. Session 5: Noticing Body Sensations: Release Tension for Reduced Stress: Why is it important to notice sensations in the body and how can that help release tension and stress? Session 6: Hardwiring our Brain for Positivity and Well-being: Noticing generosity, choosing gratitude and the power of kind thoughts are mental medicine for our overall wellbeing. When we intentionally focus on positivity, we strengthen our neural pathways for greater wellbeing. Session 7: Mindful Behavior vs Autopilot Behavior: What is autopilot behavior and why is it problematic? How can mindful behavior help improve our relationships at home and work? Session 8: Mindful Self-Compassion: Discover practices to cultivate kindness and understanding towards ourselves, especially in times of stress. This powerful practice of befriending ourselves reduces stress and increases compassion. All sessions are led by Kim Stephens.
