Discussion is more than a participation requirement. Whether you teach online, hybrid, or in person, well-designed discussions can deepen learning, encourage critical thinking, and give every student an opportunity to contribute, but discussions that feel like they’re just “checking a box” can really hurt a course. Join us as we explore research-based strategies for designing engaging discussion activities, writing prompts that spark meaningful conversations, and using Canvas Discussions to extend learning before, during, and beyond the classroom. This session is organized in collaboration with faculty from CU Boulder.
